Check that your computer has access to a good, reliable Internet connection, and that your computer has everything you need to do your classwork. We do not recommend using your mobile data connection for extended periods of time, as this may incur extra costs. It is better to use a home broadband (DSL) or UFB connection, or even a free Internet connection such as those found at many public libraries and cafés.

Opening some files (such as Word documents or PowerPoint slideshows) within eWānanga LMS may require Microsoft Office to be installed on your computer.  Every student studying at Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi can download and install Microsoft Office for free, or you can use the online version of Office, called Office365.

Web Conferencing

If you will be using Zoom web conferencing you will need a webcam with a built-in microphone attached to your computer. Please ask your kaiako (teacher) if having a webcam or microphone for your course or paper is necessary. Most laptops come with a webcam and microphone built-in.

You may also use your phone or tablet to connect to a Zoom web conferencing session. To do this, you will need to install the Zoom app to your phone or device. You will find this app in the Google Play store (for Android), or in the App Store (for Apple iPhone or iPad).
